At the end of a stunning lane in Exeter lay “Kerloch” a breathtaking landscape, home to a sprawling country house awaiting a second chance at love.

And love is exactly what was poured into this farmhouse.

The plan was simple: to give the house a modern update while retaining its original character and architectural charm. What began as a makeover evolved into a full interior renovation, taking just under 12 months from planning to completion.

True to Daniela’s word, the original ceiling timber beams—once limited to one side of the house—were preserved. To ensure a seamless flow, nearly identical beams were sourced, with a colour match to the original stain meticulously applied. The existing fireplaces, wall panelling, brick features, doors, and windows were all treated and repainted, keeping the design’s original aesthetic intact.

Black and white tones with gold accents were introduced throughout the main living areas, complementing the original brass window and door hardware. Replacing these would have been a crime, so instead, they were deep cleaned and polished, bringing them back to life.

In the bedrooms and bathrooms, softer tones were chosen to create a peaceful, cosy vibe. Minimal colours allowed the rooms to blend effortlessly with the natural hues of the surrounding landscape.

The pool area was transformed into a resort-style outdoor living space, complete with a cabana and wet bar. A newly built outdoor kitchen, featuring a wood-fired pizza oven, large rotisserie, and BBQ, was added for ultimate entertaining. From the pool, a fully refurbished standard-sized tennis court can be seen.

Inspiration came not only from a natural creative flair but from loved ones as well. The result is a home designed for gathering with family and friends, where every space is perfectly connected, luxurious and so sophisticated you never want to leave.
